The end of January…

One thing you can always count on is the unpredictability of the weather here in the North Country. We’ve had many cloudy days with beautiful snow showers that blanket everything outside. It is stunning when the sun comes out and the Mountains sparkle like they are covered with diamonds. Days that bring snow showers just make you want to curl up by the fire. Lucky for us we have fireplaces in our beautifully renovated rooms. Those of you that spend the day on the mountain can return to the Inn knowing you will be basking in the warm glow from your in room fireplace.

Don’t forget Valentine’s Day is coming we have some great deals for a romantic weekend away. This brings me to a point I’d like to make… I’ve been married for 25 years. It is so easy to get into the “routine” of things. He had his work and I was a stay at home mom. Then one day we were given a gift certificate to a local restaurant for dinner out. I made a reservation and called my mom to watch the kids. As we sat at the table after ordering our dinner it was at THAT moment I felt the Grand Canyon that had come between us. We had NOTHING to talk about… It wasn’t like we didn’t want to talk or that we didn’t like each other. It was all due to the fact that we had spent 8 years working, and taking care of the kid’s never making time for just US… I truly believe if we hadn’t realized what was happening at that time we may have grown further apart and things may have turned out differently.

My point being… With the specials we are offering you here at the Inn of Lincoln for Valentine’s Day it is very affordable for you to TAKE SOME TIME for you and your loved one. One weekend away together will do wonders for your spirit and your relationship. Make the most of your time NOW… Surprise her or him with a weekend away…

January Get Away Specials…

Hello and welcome back to the Inn of Lincoln blog. It’s January the holidays are over and it’s COLD outside. What are we going to do for fun…

Well we have a few suggestions for you. If you’re like my family we just love to gather round the fire and have game night. We have old fashioned board game night or we plug in the PS3 and rock out to Guitar Hero. Family time is an important part of our weekly schedule. As important as Sunday dinner which even with the kids older we still make time. Some people think of summer as the only time to do a “family” vacation. There are so many things to do up here in the mountains in the winter. Aside from the obvious skiing, and snow machining, there’s snow shoeing, hiking, or good old fashioned sledding… Our indoor pool is a fun way to spend a day the kids just love the newly renovated tunnel leading over to the pool. Swimming in our indoor heated pool or taking a dip in the Jacuzzi is a fun way to spend a day.

Yet again I’m going to forewarn you to book your weekends or snow getaways early. We are filling up fast.

With the Christmas almost upon us. We hope you are taking a little time in the hustle and bustle of holiday preparation to stop and take time for YOU. Remember the reason for the season. Being together and giving of your TIME is much more valuable than any wrapped gift. Reach out this season, to that neighbor that lives alone with a plate of homemade cookies, or donate to the local food pantry. Take the kids shopping for a toy and donate it to those who might not get something. Don’t let that hustle and bustle take you from what’s really important this season…

We here at the Inn of Lincoln are wishing you all PEACE and JOY…

Thoughts and prayers going out to all our Military and their families…

It’s Countdown time…

The Countdown is ON…

All of us here at the Inn of Lincoln hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving. We had very interesting weather over the holiday weekend. The forecast was rain, rain and more rain… On my ride into work I noticed the closer I got to the Notch the more what was hitting my windshield looked like slush. I was right it was full out snowing in the Notch. They ended up with a whopping 12 inches of snow Friday night. John, Lori, and Alycia made the trip up to the Rocks Estate in Bethlehem for Christmas Trees. The Inn was filled with the fresh smell of Pine. Our animated dancing Santa is up and ready to greet you.

We have the nicest guests. Many that were here over the weekend came for the Christmas Tree Special. They’re holiday spirit is contagious, seeing little faces excited about picking out their tree and meeting Father Christmas. I love to show the children the tunnel that connects the Inn to our inside pool. They just love the idea of walking “underground” when it’s cold or raining out to go swimming. Since the renovations started it’s transformed the tunnel into a lovely walk through. New decking to walk on and new lighting, and the pictures of days past are enchanting.

People are starting to call about our ski packages. We’re getting all the info from the local mountains so that we can put together the perfect ski getaway weekends for you. Please check the web site as most of our specials are listed there, and feel free to call we are more than happy to answer any questions for you.

We here at the Inn of Lincoln hope you have a GREAT weekend! Please remember to call soon for your Christmas Tree Special Weekend we are filling up fast and we don’t want you to miss out on a very special time…

Don’t let the stress of shopping get to you… It’s being together that’s important not what’s wrapped under the tree…

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from the Inn of Lincoln…

Samantha’s CranApple Cobbles… One word describes it best… DEEEELICIOUS… It is an explosion of delectable tastes with cranberries and apples mixed in a flavorful sauce with a fluffy crust. The competition has just begun we’re rooting for you Sam…

Our Christmas Tree package is still available. If you’re in the Boston are you may have heard our ads on the local radio stations about the specials we’re offering. Here’s what you get with the Christmas Tree Special. I think it’s just the greatest idea for a new family Tradition.
2 Nights Lodging
Dinner and Breakfast daily
A Decorated Wreath
A free Sleigh or Wagon Ride
A visit with SANTA
And the Perfect family Christmas Tree

Remember all rates and more information is listed on our web site http://www.innoflincoln.com under “SPECIALS”. (For your convenience you can also book your reservation right there on the web page.)

Thanksgiving to me means family. Some people have a big dinner with a house full of relatives. Some have a small family with not so many in attendance. Don’t let the hustle and bustle of getting Supper ready spoil the day. Don’t worry if the dressing is moist enough, or if the gravy is lumpy. Enjoy the company around you because one day they might not be there to share the holidays with you for whatever reason. Each family has their own traditions enjoy them and pass them on to the next generation. Make each holiday special and take lots of pictures. I’ve learned (the hard way) that we really have to make the most of our time here, and not take those we love most for granted.

From all of us here at the Inn of Lincoln we are wishing you and your families a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. For those of you with loved ones in the Military that can’t be together at this time. We are remembering you with Thoughts and Prayers…

From all of us here at the Inn of Lincoln Happy Thanksgiving…

We are proud…

Hello and Welcome back to the Inn of Lincoln Blog…

We are very proud and excited for Samantha… (she works the front desk here)… She is part of a team called the Sweet Tarts at her University. It seems that a local restaurant hosts a competition for the University. Each of the teams creates a spectacular desert and a local participating restaurant then offers the dish to the guests. The desert that is ordered the most WINS… Alycia and I are going over Friday after work and ordering Sam’s YUMMY sounding CranApple Cobbler with Ice Cream. Mmmmmmm… Sounds delicious… I’ll let ya know how it was, and how the competition is going… WE’RE ROOTING FOR YOU SAM!!!

It’s the quiet time up here in the mountains. All the animals are getting ready to go into hibernation. The buzz of chainsaw’s can be heard, people cutting, splitting and stacking wood. Squirrels and chipmunks are all gathering food for the winter. People are digging out their winter coats, hats, mittens, and gloves. And Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK… DANG… Where does the time go…

A reminder that if you haven’t already booked your Christmas Tree Special weekend with us. We are filling up fast I really don’t want to be the one on the phone telling you we have no reservations left. Please hurry so you and your family don’t miss out on a really fun weekend here at the Inn of Lincoln…

Stay warm… Kim

Veteran’s Day…

Hello and Welcome back to the Inn of Lincoln Blog…

Just a reminder as we all do the day to day things. Veteran’s Day was this past week… Please take the time if you know a Veteran to say THANK YOU. Not just on Veteran’s Day but ANY TIME you see one of these Men or Women. Remember when you see a Military member that they raised their hands and took an oath to give their lives for us and our great country. To defend the freedoms we take for granted every day with their lives. The least we can do is say thank you…

What a beautiful week of weather we’ve had here at the Inn of Lincoln. Simply amazing temps with the sun shining it’s wonderful. If you think this time of year is not good for vacationing I got news for ya. It’s amazing up here. Chilly nights make for chilly mornings PERFECT start for a day of hiking, biking, or just leisurely walking through the Basin, or any of the beautiful trails. No lines or big crowds like on holiday weekends or midsummer. THIS is the perfect time of year to make the trip and spend time with the family appreciating all the beauty around us. There’s so much to SEE if we only take or I should say MAKE the TIME. I think we all get caught up in the hurry up and wait of our lives.

Sooooooooo give us a call and we’ll get you into great accommodations here at the Inn of Lincoln…

Proud Marine Mom… Kim

Start a New Tradition with the Christmas Tree Special

Hello… and welcome back to the Inn of Lincoln’s Blog…

Well it’s getting to be THAT time of year again. The time of year when we’re looking at Halloween decorations and candy and then they start sneaking the Christmas decorations and gifts out there. Trying to be subliminal I think. I’d like to tell you about the Christmas Tree special that we along with the Rocks Estate tree farm are offering to you this year. I think it’s a really cool idea and a great thing to start as a family tradition.

We are offering Christmas Tree packages this is how it works…

You’ll get a 2 night stay here at the festive Inn of Lincoln with breakfast and dinner both days. You are then able to go to the Rocks Estate tree farm and choose the perfect Christmas Tree for you and your family. You will get a free decorated wreath and a horse drawn sleigh or wagon ride (depending on the amount of snow we have of course). Then after that you can take part in two family shows, and a visit from Santa with a gift for everyone over at Dad’s restaurant.

If I didn’t already live here I would definitely add this as one of our family traditions. I’ve learned that traditions are very important. I look back on the traditions I was raised with and how I’ve carried them over to my own family. There is nothing more fun than sitting around with my family sipping hot coco and reminiscing about all the crazy family memories. I’m blessed to have MILLIONS of them, all of which the kids LOVE to tell over and over and OVER…

So start a new family tradition this year and make a trip up to the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire where the Inn of Lincoln is waiting to greet you…

Live… Love… and Laugh… Cause life is too short not to… Kim
